Maximising online potential for florists

Since the early days of the internet, there has been no doubt that the phenomenon of online retailing was always eventually going to become one of the main channels to market for almost all products and services. However, little did we know just how quickly the power of Internet retailing would grow!

Despite this, many florists still aren’t taking advantage of the potential of online retailing, which in recent times has also led to another highly significant trend, which is the growing number of offline/shop sales that are influenced by polished and professional online promotional activities.

Helping florists to get online with a slick, stylish, professional, fully e-commerce enabled website that’s easy to create and even easier to maintain is Florist Window – a company providing customised website solutions specifically for florists that allow online selling, whilst maintaining your own brand identity, products, content and customers.

The concept behind Florist Window is simple – their experts, who have been designing and building websites for longer than they care to remember, create a new website that is 100% search engine friendly and branded to each individual business using the relevant colours and logos.

Using the easy-to-use Florist Window software, each florist then maintains their own web pages, products, product categories, and delivery charges, with unlimited website themes such as Valentines or Mother’s Day, spring or summer, voucher codes, customer newsletters, sales orders and more all built in. New products and shopping categories can be added, modified or deleted instantly, ensuring the site can easily be kept bang up-to-date. All for just £50 per month plus £60 each year for the site’s security certificate.

Florist Window published their florist website – www.bedfordflorist.co.uk - in December 2009 and since then, in this ever-evolving world of online retail, have constantly upgraded and enhanced their software to ensure all client websites are in line with the latest technology and trends. Since then, dozens of other florists have discovered the service for themselves, with great success.

One florist using a Florist Window website is Perfect Moment Florist in St Albans. Their website - www.pmflorist.co.uk - went live in January this year. The shop’s Samantha Jackson said: “Getting the site up and running was completely hassle free and once you get going and get used to the site, it’s really easy to update and use.

“I like the fact that each site looks different, with the logos and colours all personalised. Basically, the site looks like mine – not just another one from the same template. There’s also no limit when it comes to adding new items – you can put as much or as little as you want on! Plus, if we want to see something new added to the software, Florist Window will work with us to achieve it – for example, the reminder service, which automatically reminds people if there’s a birthday or anniversary coming up, was added in later. It’s these extras that bring the business in.”

Samantha says that the site has brought her plenty of business, including lots of relay orders.

“Local people use the site for sending orders all over the country – our delivery charge is the same as the relay fee, so it’s just great extra business. We’re members of eFlorist, so we can also use their photos on the website.

“Overall, I’m impressed. The site layout means a lot of people prefer to order a ‘florist choice’ bouquet, which is obviously great for us, and the add-ons page means we do get a good number of people ordering chocolates and things like that, which again, is good for business.”

Eliza Sanchez from Fleur De Lis Florist in Stirling - www.florist-scotland.co.uk - agrees with Samantha and says: “It’s genuinely fantastic. I’ve paid thousands of pounds for websites over the years, so it’s brilliant to work with a company that will do exactly what they say they will, and usually sooner than they say they will!

“I would definitely recommend them – they just seem to have their finger on the pulse.”

With praise like that, if you’re looking to maximise the potential of online sales, you know where to look!
