Setting Up a Florist Ecommerce Website & Florist Window

Below are the answers to the questions we frequently get asked by florists considering joining Florist Window.

How long have you been doing what you do?

23rd February 1998 we first registered our first domain name for commercial use. Our first website uksuperweb.co.uk was a web directory that launched at midnight on May 1st. Over the years since then UK Superweb has transitioned to become Florist Window.  Our first florist website went live in December 2009 and the rest, as they say, is history.  Find out more about Florist Window.

How long will it take for my new website to go live?

If you pay your setup fee today and return the setup questions back to us on the same day we'll have a design and fully usable website ready for you to view within about 4 weeks! Most of the time we get the design just right, if we don't, we'll work with you until you absolutely love it! Then we can move onto content and launching your website which we can usually take care of in a few days while you're working alongside us by telephone and email which is how we like it. We take most of the workload away from you during setup and just need you to answer questions, share ideas and provide feedback as your site progresses to being launch ready and indeed ready for business! This is big business so for just a small monthly fee you'll have a website that matches the big national sites on a local level. No national company can stop a Florist going local, your trading address, local telephone number and your very own website selling direct full of products will ensure you stand the best chance of being found online by consumers searching online for everything you offer right now!

Will my website work on phones?

Yes all clients' websites are mobile friendly.  From smartphones to tablets, iPads, laptops and PC's.

I am a member of a relay company, can I still have a Florist Window website?

Yes, a large percentage of our clients are members of wire / relay companies. They benefit from a bespoke website, from which they keep 100% of the sales, and they have control over the content of the website.

Are you a wire, relay, order gatherer, postal, letterbox flower company?

No, we promote Florists online. This includes a bespoke website which is mobile friendly, automated order emails to customers, annual reminders, marketing emails, coupons, vouchers and sales reports.  We're a web design and development company not a national company selling flowers. Our clients are real local florists whoe sell the flowers.

Can I send national orders via Florist Window?

Yes in the UK, you can send your national orders to other florists in the Florist Window network within the UK. It's quick, simple and secure and best of all we do not charge a commission for this service as 100% of the money is retained by the sending and executing florist

Do you charge a commission on our website sales?

No, you get all of the money from sales made through your website except for card company processing fees of course.  We charge a fixed monthly fee for our website service not a commission, percentage or service fee on sales.

Do you hold on to the sales I get through my website?

No, 100% of your sales go via your very own online payment gateway direct to your bank account within 2/3 business days.

I don't have any pictures of my flowers, how can I have an ecommerce website?

We can provide you with a choice of ranges to use for free. Over time you can then add your own pictures to your website or add to the range you have decided to use.  You can also delete any products you do not want, change the product names and update prices prior to going live. If you prefer to use pictures of your own work, great! We will add your entire current online range for you included in our setup price prior to going live.  Many clients have hundreds of products and we're able to meet this requirement as we understand how important it is that the products you offer are available to order online. Getting your website created and launched with Florist Window is a step forward where we ensure all of your current content is maintained and improved upon when your new website goes live. Google will be the first to see it and we want Google to be impressed!  Take a look at our flower ranges.

I already have a website, can I keep my domain name?

Yes, we simply need to point your domain at your new Florist Window website.

I like the design of my current website, can I keep it and still have a Florist Window website?

Yes, assuming we have permission from your old web designer, we can recreate your existing design within Florist Window, so you benefit from all of the great features.

I haven't got a website yet, I have a friend who said they would help me, is this a good idea?

No! People often think that taking this route will save them money but it will end up costing you in lost sales. It will typically take weeks for your friend to complete the website, if it is ever complete. The end results may look OK, but will not have the depth of features that Florist Window offers. We have years of experience and have set up hundreds of websites for florists. We charge a very low set up fee, and you are not tied into a contract.

I'm thinking of using a local web design company, why should I choose Florist Window to design my website for me?

There are two good reasons to choose Florist Window over a local web design company. One, the design company will typically charge you a large setup fee, perhaps thousands of pounds. Two, you will have a generic ecommerce system and it won't have many of the florist specific features that Florist Window has.

 Can I maintain my website?

Yes, you can change any of the content, and any of the products, prices, pictures, etc.

What happens if I want to leave Florist Window?

You are not tied into a contract with Florist Window so you can choose to leave at any time. If you do choose to leave then all we ask is 30 days notice.  Your website will then go offline on the agreed date. We would then help you to point your domain name at your new website before this date as instructed to ensure no loss of service, if your new site is delayed we can keep your Florist Window website live until you are ready.

Do you offer top 10 listings on search engines?

No, nobody can offer or promise top 10 listings on search engines, however our websites are designed from the ground up with Search Engine Optimisation in mind, and we generally achieve excellent listings on search engines.

Will you develop my business exclusively in my area?

No, we do not offer exclusivity to a florist in a specific area. We do not discriminate against which real local florists we work for no matter how large or small. We work for florists for the greater good of local florists, so working together, we can keep local florists on the traditional and digital high street forever.

Can you have 2 websites for the same business?

There is certainly a business case for it! It may be the case that there is a valid business reason for wanting to maintain multiple websites. In some cases, it can make sense to have multiple domains, these could include: The product / service offering is completely different on each website. Each domain needs to demonstrate a distinct brand voice E.g. one website promotes a florist website selling bouquets & arrangements and the other website promotes a dedciated wedding flowers website or event styling website so there is no overlap.

Can 2 businesses have the same address on Google?

In general, Google will allow two listings for the same address under only a couple of circumstances. Firstly, if there are two businesses providing totally different services than each other, then there is no problem as far as Google is concerned. E.g. two florists from the same address, two websites both selling flowers Google will generally ignore one of the websites.

Does buying multiple domain names help SEO?

Purchasing multiple domain names does not provide any SEO advantage to your main website. Extra domains pointed to your primary domain through web-forwarding (a simple server-side redirect) will not generate additional traffic or help with search engine rankings. Search engines only index domains with published content, so forwarded domains will not be crawled or ranked.
If you’ve registered multiple versions of your domain, such as a .com and a local suffix like .co.uk, they can serve a practical purpose. For example, if your website content is published on yourflorist.co.uk, and you’ve also registered yourflorist.com to automatically redirect visitors, people who type in the .com version may still land on your primary site. However, only the domain hosting the live content (.co.uk in this case) will be indexed by Google.
For international businesses, it’s common to publish global content on their .com domain while using local domains (e.g., .co.uk) to offer region-specific products and services. Some companies prefer using subdomains or country-specific URLs to manage global content while maintaining SEO consistency.
Note: There are multiple approaches to managing global websites, and the best strategy depends on the company’s goals and audience.
